4 Star recruit and Steelton native Mehki Flowers started the new year by making his announcement where he will continue his football career after high school! #PENNSTATE

One thing Flowers wanted in  program was the belief from the coaching staff he could play on both sides of the ball. He will head to Penn State as an athlete with the ability to play receiver and either safety or outside linebacker. He spoke to the coaching staff about doing so.

“Both sides of the ball, they play really fast,” Flowers said. “I talked to coach (James) Franklin and he was telling me that he wants me to play both sides of the ball, so I am looking forward to that.”

Flowers is the eighth member of Penn State’s 2022 class, which moved ahead of LSU in the team rankings and is now No. 2 in the nation.

He is the fifth player from Pennsylvania in the class, joining Downingtown (Pa.) West offensive tackle Drew Shelton, Philadelphia Northeast defensive end Ken Talley, Lancaster (Pa.) Manheim Township receiver Anthony Ivey and Central York (Pa.) High quarterback Beau Pribula.
