A 40-point performance on the state’s biggest stage and a breakout debut season with Trinity boys basketball netted Chance Westry a Class 3A First Team nod on the 2018-19 Pennsylvania Sports Writers All-State Boys Basketball Teams.

The All-State teams were released Tuesday afternoon, selected by high school basketball writers across the state.

The freshman guard is the only Sentinel-area representative to make All-State, and deservedly so.

Westry, who landed a Penn State offer during Trinity’s playoff run to a District 3 Class 3A title and a berth in the PIAA championship game, became the All-Sentinel Player of the Year after he averaged 15.9 points in his rookie season and 18 during the postseason.

Westry officially put his name on the map with a masterful 40-point performance against Lincoln Park in a 73-72 state championship loss. He shot 13-of-22 from the field, 4-of-6 from 3-point territory and 10-of-12 on foul shots. He also had nine rebounds, seven assists, four steals and three blocks.
